What to Do Before Moving Out of Your Apartment

When it's time to finally move out of your apartment, your initial reaction may be to get it all done with and move as soon as possible. But this can cause major headaches and can make your experience horrible. On the other hand, if you do your responsibilities well, you can guarantee a smooth move and also get your bond back as soon as you're done.
Notify your Landlord
The first thing you have to do is inform your landlord about your decision to move. Be sure to give him an accurate date to avoid getting financially penalized.
Move Your Things
Packing and moving your belongings can be the most difficult phase in your move. But this can be made easier if you get a professional removal company to help you out. If you want to save some cash and you feel like there are only few items to move, consider doing it yourself. Better yet, ask your friends and relatives if they could lend a hand.
Leave the Unit Spotless
Don't think that superficial dusting and vacuuming is enough. You could be charged for cleaning fees if you leave your unit barely cleaned. Don't leave unless the entire apartment is spotless. This can also be a good means to ensure nothing is forgotten.
Make the Repairs
Leaving broken things unrepaired can take a huge chunk off your bond. Get someone to help you if necessary. Fixing the stuff yourself is cheaper than allowing your landlord to deduct the repair expenses from your bond.
Take a Picture
Once you are done sorting everything out, take pictures of your apartment, as a proof of your hard work. Make sure the date is indicated in the photo in case your landlord insists to hold on to your bond.
